As a response to South Africa’s urgent need for a generic supportive aid, JumpStart’s objective is to educate, empower and uplift the youth. It exposes the learner to self-knowledge, skills development, job-seeking, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, health awareness and community issues; while highlighting
the training and career opportunities presented by South Africa’s diverse economy. The 4th edition has started a 30 page section on careers and will be increased to over 100 pages in the next edition. Each year the complete handbook is updated and refreshed with new look & feel as well as added content
based on the research. |

Through the research on the previous editions of JumpStart, we have found that the handbooks are taken home and the rest of the family get hold of the book to look up information for themselves, so we are in the process of doing research and development for the JumpStart Adult Handbook that will be launched in 2008. |

It has become imperative to develop a teachers guide for the educators to support the delivery of the understanding and guidance of the handbook. It will include assessments and note areas. The book is designed as an A4 in size to make it easier to work with. During 2008, we will have face to face training at each school together with the new research from that area. |
